Soul of Uganda: 12-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe and Transfer to Kampala

Morning:

  • Arrive in Entebbe: Arrive at Entebbe International Airport, where your guide will meet you.
  • Transfer to Kampala: After a brief introduction to Uganda, head to Kampala, Uganda’s bustling capital, where you’ll check in to your hotel.

Afternoon:

  • Explore Kampala: Depending on your arrival time, take a city tour of Kampala, visiting attractions like the Uganda Museum, Gadaffi Mosque, and Nakasero Market.

Evening:

  • Dinner and Relaxation: Enjoy dinner at your hotel or a local restaurant, relaxing after your international flight.

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Morning:

  • 7:00 AM – Breakfast and Departure: After breakfast, depart for Kibale Forest National Park, home to the famous Kibale Chimpanzee Sanctuary.
  • Drive to Kibale: The journey takes approximately 5-6 hours, passing through picturesque villages and landscapes.

Afternoon:

  • Arrival at Kibale: Check in to your lodge at Kyaninga Lodge or Chimpanzee Forest Guesthouse.
  • Evening Nature Walk: If time allows, take an optional nature walk through the park’s forest trails.

Evening:

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest

Morning:

  • 6:00 AM – Chimpanzee Trekking Briefing: After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for your chimpanzee trekking briefing.
  • Chimpanzee Trekking: Spend 2-4 hours trekking through the forest in search of wild chimpanzees. You’ll also encounter other primates, birds, and lush flora along the way.

Afternoon:

  • Return to Lodge for Lunch: After trekking, return to your lodge for lunch and relax.
  • Optional Afternoon Activity: You can either explore the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for birdwatching or enjoy a leisurely walk around the area.

Evening:

  • Dinner and Relaxation: Return to your lodge for a well-deserved dinner.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Morning:

  • 7:00 AM – Breakfast and Departure: After breakfast, depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park, a journey that takes about 2-3 hours.
  • Enroute Visit to the Equator: Stop at the Uganda Equator for photos and souvenirs.

Afternoon:

  • Arrival and Check-in: Arrive at Queen Elizabeth National Park and check in to your lodge, such as Mweya Safari Lodge or Ishasha Wilderness Camp.
  • Evening Game Drive: Head out for a short evening game drive in the park, spotting wildlife like buffaloes, elephants, and kobs.

Day 5: Game Drive and Boat Safari in Queen Elizabeth

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Morning:

  • 7:00 AM – Breakfast and Departure: After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its mountain gorillas.
  • Arrival and Check-in: After a 4-5 hour drive, check in at your lodge, such as Buhoma Lodge or Silverback Lodge.

Afternoon:

  • Optional Village Visit: If time allows, visit the local Batwa Village and learn about the traditional lifestyles of the Batwa people.

Evening:

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

  • Gorilla Trekking: Trek into the Bwindi Forest to encounter the endangered mountain gorillas. The trek may take 2-6 hours, but the reward is meeting these gentle giants in their natural habitat.

  • Lunch at Lodge: After your trek, return to your lodge for a relaxing lunch.

Day 8: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
